King Kong

I have never seen the original, but from what I hear this remake was really really good. I liked it. It's sort of a long movie, but you didn't really notice. Acting wasn't too bad either however Jack Black should stick to funny movies. The giant bugs were really gross. They did a good job of capturing depression-era new york city too.

Worth seeing in the theaters!

Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

These books by CS Lewis were practically required reading at my private Christian school i went to and i remember watching the movies in class in 3rd grade as well as on PBS.

Much more big budget and the kids seemed to be more of the right ages in this one than portrayed in the original movies. The only thing we remember though was that there was more character developement between the white witch and edmund, as well as the other kids at the solider camp. Lots of symbolism in this movie too, however if ya read the books ya already knew that ;)

Definately one to take the kids to!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Much much darker than the others, apparently if ya didnt read the book it would have seemed to jump around and not make a whole lot of sense at some parts (someone said they skipped about 100-200 pages within the first 10 minutes). Apparently it's just supposed to get even darker as well. Oh and this one was pg13 because someone dies in it and there's some life and death violence towards the end as well.

Can't wait to see the next movie! I'd say it's ok for older kids, but not so much the lil ones =)

Just Friends

This one starts Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart.

Brief summary:
Growing up they were the best of friends, however in high school she became the hot tease all the guys wanted while he became the fat chubby kid, they still remained friends, however he had always hoped for more. After an incident at a post graduation party Ryan's character takes off for LA to change his life and make a name for himself. He ends up doing PR stuff for one of the biggest CEOs in music and his latest project is getting a hot young ashlee simpson/britney spears type wannabe to sign with their record label. On their way to Paris they have a freak plane accident and whadya know, he's in his hometown which he hasnt visited in over 10 years. He runs into old friends, sees that Amy's character is still single and decides he's going to try to get with her... yet he's gotta keep occupied his lil singing starlet who wont leave him alone.

It was pretty funny, however the entire movie kept reminding me of another movie ive seen not too long ago... it's good for a christmas laugh though, since it takes place over christmas and the up and coming pop star is a total stab at ashlee simpson which was quite amusing as well. I'd say it's worth a matinee or a dollar movie watch if you're bored and want a good laugh.
